Welcome Address

Energy is essential for socio-economic development and industrial growth of any nation. No doubt, Nigeria is blessed with abundant fossil fuel reserves. However, the need for other sources of energy such as wind, water, sun and biomass is now attracting attention due to the world energy crisis of the 1970s. Among the alternative energy sources, renewable energy of which hydropower is a cardinal, requires serious consideration. In response to this, the Federal Government established the National Centre for Hydropower Research and Development (NACHRED) under the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN).
